About Us

Founded in 1985 by Philip Gibbs, David Lowrie, and Roger Gibbs, PDR has been at the forefront of infrared rework technology since the very beginning. Our first pioneering IR rework system was launched in 1987, setting a foundation for precision thermal engineering that continues to define our approach today. More than 40 years later, PDR remains focused on developing practical, reliable, and highly controllable rework systems for modern electronics.

PDR systems are used across a wide range of industries and applications, including:

  • Mobile phone, PDA, tablet, laptop, desktop, and server repair
  • Consumer electronics, set-top boxes, televisions, and game consoles
  • Aerospace, defence, avionics, automotive, and transport electronics
  • Control systems, industrial electronics, R&D, assembly, and repair rework

Our technology is designed to support both critical, low-volume rework and demanding high-mix production environments. From essential manual systems to full-spec platforms, large-PCB solutions, and semi-automated rework systems, the PDR product range offers a clear progression in capability—allowing customers to select the right level of control, automation, and scalability for their process.

To support our customers globally, PDR provides a gold-standard sales and technical support service through our regional offices, supported by an established worldwide network of professional sales and support partners. Since 1987, we have successfully supplied over 5,000 systems to the global electronics industry, building long-term relationships based on trust, performance, and service.

There are many rework systems available on the market, but customers continue to choose PDR for our engineering-led approach and precision thermal technology. By combining focused infrared heating, intelligent process control, and clear system visibility, PDR rework systems deliver repeatable, reliable results—day after day, board after board.
